Lara’s early journey began while studying at St Mary’s University, where she worked as a runner on ‘It’s a Knockout’. It gave her a first taste of television production and encouraged her move into presenting. After graduating, she worked as a researcher before stepping in front of the camera. She became a broadcast journalist for Liquid News before joining Five News as their Weather Presenter, quickly becoming a familiar face. She went on to serve as Channel 5 Showbiz Reporter, interviewing global stars and appearing on shows across BBC, ITV and Channel 4. These years shaped her natural, human style of storytelling, something that has stayed central to her work ever since.

Lara transitioned into technology broadcasting when she joined BBC Click in 2011 as a reporter. Her ability to break down complex ideas led to her promotion to Senior Presenter, then Lead Presenter, fronting the BBC’s flagship technology programme until 2025. Alongside Click, she has made major contributions to BBC Panorama’s Beyond Human, BBC Radio 4 documentaries including Wiki Wars and A Documentary: By ChatGPT, and a wide range of tech and health programming across BBC One, BBC News, ITV and Radio 4. Lara is also a regular host and moderator at leading global events including London Tech Week, AI Summit London and Founders Forum, where she speaks on emerging technologies, science and the future of health.
