Kenton Cool

Kenton Cool is one of the world’s most accomplished high altitude climbers, best known for his extraordinary record on Mount Everest and his leadership in extreme environments. By 2026, Kenton achieved his twentieth summit of Everest, becoming the first Westerner to reach this milestone, a feat that firmly establishes him among the elite in global mountaineering. His career is marked not only by repeated success on the world’s highest peak but also by innovation, such as making the first 3G call and social media post from the summit and carrying an Olympic Gold Medal to the top. With over twenty successful expeditions in the Greater Ranges, Kenton’s story is one of resilience, precision and ambition, which is why he is so highly sought after as a keynote speaker.

Kenton studied BSc Geological Sciences at the University of Leeds, where he developed a deep passion for climbing that would shape his future. After graduating, he moved to Sheffield to immerse himself fully in the climbing community. His early career was marked by both challenge and determination, particularly after a serious accident in the mid 1990s when he shattered both heel bones in a fall. Following extensive recovery, he joined the British Association of Mountain Guides scheme and went on to become a fully qualified IFMGA Guide and Expedition Leader. Kenton has since led major expeditions, including those of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and serves as Director of Dream Guides, a Chamonix-based mountain and ski guiding company.

Kenton’s achievements have brought him widespread recognition beyond the climbing world. He was nominated for the prestigious Piolet d’Or Award for a technical route on Annapurna III and has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible in high altitude exploration. His ‘Kenton Cool – Everest: The Untold Story UK Tour 2023’ celebrated the seventieth anniversary of the first Everest summit and offered audiences rare insight into life on the mountain. He has also appeared prominently in the media, including featuring on the front cover of The Sunday Times Magazine, further cementing his reputation as a leading voice in adventure and exploration.

Beyond his climbing accolades, Kenton is an engaging and insightful communicator whose experiences translate powerfully into the business and corporate world. His leadership under pressure, decision-making in life-critical situations and ability to manage risk resonate strongly with organisations seeking inspiration and practical lessons. Through his talks, he connects extreme expedition challenges with everyday professional environments, offering audiences clear strategies for resilience, teamwork and high performance. This unique combination of world-class achievement and relatable storytelling is what makes him an exceptional choice as a keynote speaker.
