Following his playing career, Chris moved into coaching and management, taking charge of Bradford City and later Stoke City, where he led Bradford to promotion through the Second Division play-offs in 1996.

After stepping away from management, Chris began a new chapter in television and quickly became one of the most popular pundits in the UK. He joined Sky Sports in the 1990s and rose to national fame on the iconic programme Soccer Saturday, where his passionate reporting style and memorable catchphrases made him a fan favourite. Over more than 20 years on the network he also appeared on programmes such as Goals on Sunday and Soccer AM, becoming synonymous with football broadcasting in Britain. Chris later expanded his television career further, co-presenting entertainment programmes including Ninja Warrior UK.

Away from broadcasting, Chris is recognised for his work supporting charitable causes and campaigning against racism in football. In 2023, he was awarded an MBE for services to football, charity and anti-racism, recognising both his sporting achievements and his impact beyond the pitch. Today, he remains a hugely popular speaker, drawing on decades of experience in elite sport and media to deliver engaging and humorous talks about teamwork, resilience and life in the world of professional football.
