David Weir

David Weir CBE is one of Britain’s most decorated Paralympic athletes, winning six Paralympic gold medals and becoming a national icon following his four-gold triumph at the London 2012 Games. Known as The Weirwolf, he dominated the T54 wheelchair racing category in the 800m, 1500m and 5000m, cementing his place among the greatest wheelchair athletes in history. His relentless drive, competitive spirit and longevity at the top of international sport have made him a powerful and inspiring speaker.

Born with a spinal cord transection that left him unable to use his legs, David began racing at a young age, representing Sutton at the London Youth Games and winning the junior mini wheelchair race at the London Marathon seven times. He went on to build a formidable international career, securing multiple Paralympic titles across Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016. His achievements were recognised with a CBE in the 2013 New Year Honours.

Beyond the Paralympics, David has dominated major road races. He has won eight titles at the Great North Run and broke the course record in 2018 with a time of 41:19. He has also claimed multiple victories at the London Marathon, competing in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and continues to hold British records across track distances up to 5000m as well as the 10km on the road.

Committed to developing future talent, David founded the Weir Archer Academy to support young wheelchair athletes. His dedication to inclusion, grassroots development and high performance ensures his legacy extends beyond medals into long-term impact within British sport.

David is hired for his unrivalled experience of performing under the highest level of pressure. His success at multiple Paralympic Games, combined with sustained excellence in major international road races, provides authentic insight into resilience, preparation and competitive mindset.

He speaks candidly about overcoming physical limitation, handling expectation and maintaining peak performance over decades.
