Dr Jo Salter MBE

Dr Jo Salter MBE made history as Britain’s first female fast jet pilot. Joining the Royal Air Force at 18, she began her studies at the Royal Military College of Science with ambitions of becoming an engineering officer. When RAF policy changed to allow women to pilot jet aircraft, Jo seized the opportunity and earned her wings in 1992. By the end of that year, she had completed her fast jet training and went on to fly the Panavia Tornado as a Flight Lieutenant with the iconic 617 Squadron. Her achievement broke barriers and inspired women across aviation and beyond. Alongside her operational flying, she guided Air Cadets at RAF Benson, helping to shape the next generation of aviators.

After leaving the RAF, Jo channelled her military discipline and leadership into business and technology. She held senior positions at NetConnect, Automated Power Exchange, and later founded Saltin Ltd, where she advised on organisational performance and transformation. Her ability to lead under pressure and think strategically paved the way for her move into global consulting. In 2015, Jo joined PwC as Director of People & Organisation, marking the beginning of a distinguished career within the firm that would span roles in technology, strategy, and leadership.

At PwC, Jo rose through multiple director-level positions, including Chief of Staff to the Head of Technology & Investments, Director of Risk Technology Strategy, and Director of Global Transformative Leadership. She also completed a short-term assignment in PwC Australia before taking up her post as GenAI Director in 2024. Across these roles, she has helped shape the firm’s global digital strategy, embedding artificial intelligence and innovation into business transformation. Her work continues to bridge people, technology, and purpose, guiding leaders through change with clarity and empathy.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Jo is a Trustee of the Ripples Charity and The Royal Air Force Club, a Global Ambassador for Global Angels, and author of Energize and Energy: 52 Ways to Fire Up Your Life and Become an Energy Angel. Whether flying fighter jets or advising Fortune 500 leaders, Jo’s career has been defined by courage, curiosity, and a commitment to helping others reach their full potential.
