Moira Cameron

Moira Cameron is a retired Yeoman Warder of HM Tower of London and the first woman ever appointed to the role. A former Warrant Officer Class 2 in the British Army, Moira made history in 2007 when she joined the ranks of the Beefeaters, breaking more than five centuries of male tradition. Now working as a motivational keynote speaker, author and presenter, she shares powerful insights on leadership, resilience and forging your own path in established institutions.

Moira began her career in 1985 when she joined the Women’s Royal Army Corps at the age of 20. She trained as a Data Telegraphist with the Royal Corps of Signals before transferring to the Royal Army Pay Corps to qualify as a Military Accountant. Following the formation of the Adjutant General’s Corps, she progressed through the Staff and Personnel Support Branch, serving across England, Northern Ireland and Cyprus. In 2000, she received the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, recognising her professionalism and dedication. After 22 years of exemplary service, she concluded her Army career as a Superintendent Clerk at 145, Home Counties Brigade, demonstrating consistent leadership and operational expertise.

In 2007, after a highly competitive selection process, Moira was appointed the first female Yeoman Warder of Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London, also holding the distinguished title of Member of the Sovereign’s Body Guard in the Extraordinary. Her responsibilities included guarding the Crown Jewels, leading public tours for millions of visitors, participating in the historic Ceremony of the Keys and representing the Tower at national events such as the Lord Mayor’s Show. During her 15 years at the Tower, she became a recognised public figure, appearing in Channel 5’s ‘Inside the Tower of London’ and supporting major public campaigns. She retired in 2022 after a landmark tenure that paved the way for other women to follow.

As a keynote speaker, Moira brings rare credibility and lived experience. She speaks candidly about stepping into spaces where you are the first, handling scrutiny, maintaining standards under pressure and embracing change with professionalism. Her story resonates strongly with corporate audiences navigating cultural shifts, public sector teams focused on service and organisations committed to inclusion. With warmth, authority and authenticity, Moira offers audiences practical lessons in confidence, courage and leadership that endure long after the event concludes.
