Debbie Berebichez is a physicist, AI and quantum technology leader, science communicator and keynote speaker renowned for making some of the world’s most complex scientific concepts accessible to global audiences. As Lead Scientist in Microelectronics and Quantum Computing at VTT, Partner and AI Products Leader at EY, and the first Mexican woman to earn a PhD in Physics from Stanford University, Debbie combines deep technical expertise with engaging storytelling. She is widely recognised as the long-time co-host of Discovery Channel’s Outrageous Acts of Science, alongside appearances on the Travel Channel, CNN, NOVA and National Geographic, making her one of the world’s leading voices on science, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
Debbie began her career as a Physics Research Associate at Stanford University before undertaking National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia University and in Physics and Applied Mathematics at New York University. She later transitioned into finance and technology, serving as a Research Associate at AQR Capital Management and Vice President of Quant Risk Analysis at Morgan Stanley Capital International. Her career continued with senior leadership positions including Principal Scientist at ThoughtWorks, Chief Data Scientist at Metis and Instructor and Mentor at Stanford University. In 2021, she joined VTT to help lead the development of Finland’s first superconducting quantum computer alongside IQM Quantum Computers, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of more than 25 scientists and engineers while helping bring quantum technologies to enterprise markets. She also founded Solve For You, LLC, leading the development of 25 AI products before becoming Partner and AI Products Leader at EY.
