Kurt Volker’s Biography:

He started his career as a CIA analyst, gaining early exposure to intelligence and global security, before joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 1988. His formative diplomatic postings took him to London, Brussels and Budapest, providing first-hand experience of European politics during a period of rapid change. In 2008, he became U.S. Ambassador to NATO, where he was deeply involved in responding to Russia’s invasion of Georgia, managing NATO enlargement, supporting operations in Afghanistan and marking the alliance’s 60th anniversary. Later, as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations, Kurt became the most senior U.S. envoy dedicated to countering Russia’s occupation of Ukrainian territory and strengthening Western support for Ukraine.
