Jane Frankland

Jane Frankland is a globally recognised cybersecurity leader, author and advisor with almost three decades of experience spanning ethical hacking, cyber risk, governance and leadership. She is best known for founding the world’s first female-owned ethical hacking firm and for her long-term influence on how organisations address cybersecurity culture and leadership. Her career has taken her from early commercial roles into senior leadership positions advising governments, global enterprises and international institutions on cyber resilience and organisational risk.

Jane began her career in the early 1990s before moving into cybersecurity and commercial leadership, where she went on to found and lead several businesses, including Corsaire, Elegy and later KnewStart, where she served as CEO. She was also Europe Region Lead and Head of Business Development at SensePost, one of the world’s leading ethical hacking consultancies. Her career progressed into senior leadership roles within major organisations, including serving as Managing Director at Accenture, where she worked with large-scale enterprises on cybersecurity strategy, governance and risk transformation.

Jane is the bestselling author of ‘IN Security: Why a Failure to Attract and Retain Women in Cybersecurity Is Making Us Less Safe’, a highly influential book examining the relationship between leadership, culture and cyber risk. The book led directly to the creation of the IN Security Movement in 2016, which Jane founded to drive meaningful, measurable change across the industry. Through this work, she has helped fund hundreds of scholarships, developed industry codes of conduct and supported organisations in improving leadership capability and security culture at scale.

Alongside her commercial and authorship work, Jane advises forward-thinking organisations, governments and institutions worldwide. In 2025, she became an advisor and brand ambassador for OutThink. She has served on executive and editorial boards, including Black Hat Europe, judged global cybersecurity awards, and lectured at leading universities such as King’s College London and Columbia University. Her insights have been featured in major media outlets, including the Sunday Times, Financial Times, Guardian, Forbes and the BBC.

Jane Frankland brings rare credibility as a speaker who has built, led and advised cybersecurity organisations at the highest level. She combines deep technical understanding with commercial insight and a clear grasp of how leadership, culture and human behaviour shape real-world security outcomes. Her keynotes go beyond theory, offering practical, evidence-based insight into how organisations can reduce risk, strengthen trust and improve decision-making.

Her recognition by UNESCO as a Trailblazing Woman in Tech underscores her global impact and leadership beyond the private sector. As a bestselling author and UN delegate, Jane speaks with authority on the future of cybersecurity, inclusion and governance, making her a compelling choice for executive, government and policy-focused audiences seeking clarity in a high-risk digital world.
