Phoebe Schecter

Phoebe Schecter is a pioneering sports leader, broadcaster and keynote speaker, best known as the first British female coach in the NFL. A former Captain of the Great Britain Women’s American Football Team, she has built a rare career spanning elite performance, coaching, governance and media. Phoebe’s story is one of courage, adaptability and leadership, shaped by breaking barriers in one of the most male dominated sporting environments in the world.

Phoebe’s journey into American football was far from conventional. Raised in the United States with dual British citizenship, she initially pursued equestrian sport, studying equine business management before relocating to England in her early twenties. With no experience of contact sport, she attended local American football trials in Manchester and quickly discovered a new passion. Through determination and resilience, she progressed rapidly, becoming one of the earliest members of the GB Women’s programme. Her leadership qualities soon stood out, leading to her appointment as Captain of the GB Women’s National Team, where she guided the side to European Championship success and a silver medal at the IFAF Women’s World Championship, cementing her status as a leader on the international stage.

Alongside her playing career, Phoebe developed an impressive coaching and governance pathway. She secured internships with University of La Verne, Bryant University and Stanford University, before earning a place on the NFL’s prestigious Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship with the Buffalo Bills. This led to her appointment as Tight Ends Coach at the Buffalo Bills, where she made history as the first British female coach in the NFL. Beyond the sidelines, Phoebe became a driving force for change, serving as Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the British American Football Association, Women’s Development Officer for the British American Football Coaches Association, and an IFAF Athlete Representative. Her work has played a vital role in developing pathways, improving governance and expanding opportunities across the sport.

Phoebe is hired as a keynote speaker because she delivers authenticity, credibility and impact. She speaks with authority earned from real experience, not theory, having led teams, coached at the highest level and navigated high pressure environments where performance and scrutiny are relentless. Her keynotes explore leadership under pressure, teamwork, confidence, diversity and inclusion, and applying elite sport principles to business and organisational culture. Audiences connect with Phoebe because her insights are practical, human and motivating. She inspires people to back themselves, lead with clarity and build inclusive, high performing teams, making her a powerful addition to conferences, leadership events and corporate programmes seeking meaningful change.
