Geoff Holt

Geoff Holt MBE is a record-setting yachtsman, founder of Wetwheels and one of Britain’s most inspiring resilience speakers. Paralysed from the neck down in a swimming accident at 18, Geoff refused to accept limitation. In 2007, he became the first quadriplegic yachtsman to sail solo around Great Britain in a 15ft trimaran dinghy, earning BBC South Sports Personality of the Year. His achievements redefined perceptions of disability in sport and established him as a pioneer of inclusive sailing.

Building on this momentum, Geoff set his sights on the Atlantic. In 2010, he became the first quadriplegic to sail unassisted across the Atlantic Ocean aboard his yacht Impossible Dream, completing a journey of approximately 3,000 miles. That same year, he was appointed MBE for services to disabled sailing and won the Yachting Journalists’ Association Yachtsman of the Year Award. His autobiography, ‘Walking on Water: A Voyage Around Britain & Through Life’, captured both the adventure and the mindset behind his achievements.

In 2011, Geoff founded Wetwheels, a charity providing accessible powerboating opportunities for disabled people. As CEO, he has expanded the organisation nationwide, enabling thousands to experience the freedom of the sea. His leadership has been recognised through numerous honours, including the Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In 2024, Geoff completed a 1,877-mile circumnavigation of the UK to highlight the work of Wetwheels, continuing to champion inclusion and opportunity. His philosophy of “no excuses” underpins every keynote, combining powerful storytelling with film and photography from his expeditions.

Geoff is hired for his extraordinary resilience and practical demonstration of overcoming adversity. His achievements are not theoretical; they are record-breaking feats completed against overwhelming physical challenge. He translates these experiences into clear lessons on mindset, leadership, teamwork and determination, making his message both credible and actionable.

In addition to his sailing accomplishments, Geoff is an experienced media contributor, regularly appearing on radio and television, including interviews on BBC Breakfast. His comfort in front of cameras and live audiences ensures a confident, engaging delivery style. Blending powerful visual storytelling with structured leadership insights, he connects emotionally while equipping audiences with practical tools for resilience, inclusion and high performance.
