Andrew J. Scott

Andrew J. Scott is Professor of Economics at London Business School and one of the world’s leading authorities on longevity economics and the future of ageing societies. His research focuses on how increasing life expectancy is reshaping careers, financial systems and public policy. Andrew is the global bestselling author of ‘The 100-Year Life’ and ‘The Longevity Imperative‘, books that have influenced policymakers, business leaders and governments worldwide. In recognition of his contribution to economics and public policy, he was appointed CBE in the 2026 New Year Honours List.

Andrew began his academic career as a Fellow of All Souls College at the University of Oxford before becoming a Lecturer at Oxford and later a Visiting Assistant Professor at Harvard University. He was appointed Professor of Economics at London Business School in 1996, where he has become one of the institution’s most respected scholars. Alongside his academic work, he has contributed to economic policymaking as an academic consultant to both the Bank of England and HM Treasury.

Beyond academia, Andrew has played an influential role in public policy and financial governance. He served as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Risk Committee at the Financial Services Authority and has been a member of the advisory panel of the UK’s Office for Budget Responsibility. He also served as Deputy Dean of London Business School and has contributed to national recognition systems as a member of the Cabinet Office Honours Committee.

Andrew is Co-Founder of The Longevity Forum, a global platform addressing the opportunities and challenges of longer lives. In 2024, he became Senior Director of Economics at the Ellison Institute of Technology in Oxford. He also serves as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Healthy Ageing and Longevity and the National Academy of Medicine’s International Commission on Health Longevity, continuing to shape international thinking on ageing populations.

Andrew is hired as a speaker for his ability to connect demographic transformation with the economic decisions facing governments, businesses and financial institutions. His keynotes explore how macroeconomic forces are evolving in response to longer lifespans, examining business cycles, fiscal policy and global economic trends through the lens of structural demographic change. He provides audiences with a strategic view of how longevity is influencing investment, labour markets and productivity.

He also addresses the future of work and retirement in an ageing society, helping organisations rethink careers, workforce planning and economic participation across longer lifetimes. Covering topics such as macroeconomics and economic forecasting, the impact of longevity on society and business, and the economic consequences of demographic change, Andrew delivers thought-provoking talks that challenge conventional assumptions about growth, policy and prosperity in the decades ahead.
