Former Leader & Commanding Officer of The Red Arrows, RAF Fast Jet Pilot & Brand Chief at NATO Flight Training Europe
Jas Hawker’s Biography:
Jas Hawker is a former Leader and Commanding Officer of the Red Arrows, RAF fast jet pilot and internationally experienced leadership expert who specialises in trust, change and high performance. During an extraordinary aviation career, Jas became the youngest pilot to join a frontline RAF Tornado squadron and later led the Red Arrows, taking responsibility for eight fellow pilots while protecting the reputation of the Royal Air Force and the United Kingdom. Today, he translates lessons from environments where decisions carry genuine consequences into practical strategies that help organisations develop resilient, high-performing teams.
Jas began his RAF career at a remarkably young age, becoming a commissioned officer and earning his fighter pilot wings by 19. He gained extensive operational experience flying the Tornado, eventually becoming a Deputy Squadron Commander and leading complex missions around the world. He subsequently joined the Red Arrows as a wingman before returning as Leader and Commanding Officer. In this position, Jas experienced first-hand how preparation, communication and trust allow elite teams to perform consistently despite intense pressure and continual personnel change.
Following his frontline flying career, Jas progressed into increasingly senior strategic positions. He completed advanced command and staff training in Australia before serving as Senior Air Advisor in Afghanistan and undertaking strategic planning and capability development for the Ministry of Defence. He later returned to aviation training, including responsibility for RAF fixed-wing flying training. Since 2023, Jas has worked with NATO Flight Training Europe, where he now serves as Branch Chief, advising governments and industry on multinational military aviation training capability.
Jas has accumulated more than 5,000 flying hours on Tornado GR4 and Hawk aircraft and has extensive experience spanning operational tours, instructional appointments and senior command. A distinguished graduate of the Australian Advanced Command and Staff College, his career encompasses frontline operations, government advisory work, international defence cooperation and organisational leadership. This combination provides Jas with an exceptional understanding of how individuals and organisations can prepare, adapt and perform when the stakes are highest.
