Steph McGovern’s Biography:

Steph McGovern is one of the UK’s most recognisable broadcasters, known for her straight-talking approach to business, money and everyday life. After three years hosting Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, she became a trusted daily presence for millions, explaining how the economy affects real people. Before joining Channel 4, Steph spent over 15 years at the BBC, where she served as the main business presenter for BBC Breakfast and regularly co-hosted the programme, bringing clarity and insight to national financial news.

Born in Middlesbrough, Steph’s passion for engineering and science was clear from a young age. At just 19, she won the Young Engineer for Britain Award and later graduated from University College London with a degree in science communication and policy. She began her career at the BBC on Tomorrow’s World before moving into research roles across current affairs and business journalism. Her talent quickly propelled her to producing roles at Radio 4’s Today programme and the BBC’s flagship news bulletins, eventually leading to her becoming a much-loved on-screen broadcaster.

Steph has hosted numerous TV and radio programmes, including BBC Radio 5 Live’s Wake Up to Money and On the Money, Watchdog, Shop Well for Less, Made in Great Britain and Pocket Money Pitch.
