Tessy Ojo CBE

Tessy Ojo CBE is the Chief Executive of The Diana Award, a leading civil society figure and an inspiring keynote speaker known for her work with young people. Across more than twenty years in third sector leadership, she has championed social justice, youth empowerment and community impact. Her most distinguished honour is her CBE for services to children and young people, which reflects her long standing commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation.

Tessy’s early career began in the corporate world after earning a degree in biochemistry and an MBA. She first worked as a Systems Analyst for IBM, developing strategic and technical expertise she later brought into the charity sector. She gained further experience as an Information Systems Coordinator for Borders Books, refining her operational approach and leadership skills. Her move into youth focused work began in 2000, and in 2006 she joined The Diana Award as Head of Finance and Operations, quickly demonstrating a talent for shaping effective programmes. She became Director of Operations in 2008, playing a central role in building the structure and sustainability of a charity that would soon expand its reach globally.

In 2012 Tessy was appointed CEO of The Diana Award, a role in which she has led extraordinary growth. Under her leadership the charity has developed internationally recognised initiatives that equip young people with the confidence and skills to drive change in their communities. Her influence extends beyond the organisation itself. She became the first British national to receive the Martin Luther King Award, was named one of the Top 100 British Leaders by British Airways and holds notable non-executive positions including Board Member of Comic Relief, Member of the BBC Appeals Advisory Committee, Board Member of the Royal Taskforce on Cyberbullying, and Chair of the #iwill Leadership Board. In 2025 she continued to be recognised internationally for her work with youth leadership networks and global advisory boards.

People book Tessy Ojo because she brings experience, compassion and a clear understanding of how young people shape society. Her talks explore youth leadership, racial and gender equality, diversity and inclusion, organisational change and the future of social impact. At events she offers practical guidance drawn from decades of leading programmes that have transformed outcomes for thousands of young people. Tessy’s belief that, with support, young people are the most powerful driver of lasting societal change gives her message real weight. She remains a compelling voice for organisations looking to improve culture, strengthen community engagement and champion fairness.
