Dominic Ashley-Timms

Dominic Ashley-Timms is a globally recognised leadership keynote speaker, behavioural change expert and Founder and CEO of Notion. He is also Co-Author of the bestselling book ‘The Answer is a Question’, a practical guide that challenges traditional management thinking. Dominic is best known as the Creator of the STAR® model for Operational Coaching® and Co-Creator of the multi-award-winning STAR® Manager programme, a scientifically validated framework proven to deliver measurable productivity gains and an average 74x return on investment.

Dominic began his professional journey after graduating with a BSc, Hons, in Information Technology and Human Factors from Loughborough University, where he also served as President of AIESEC Loughborough. His early roles as an Ergonomist and Asset Management Consultant gave him insight into systems thinking and performance optimisation. He later joined BP Oil as Strategic Business Analyst and Business Manager, gaining direct exposure to operational complexity and large-scale organisational change. Determined to deepen his commercial and strategic understanding, Dominic completed an EMBA at IMD Lausanne, an experience that sharpened his global perspective and strengthened his belief that leadership effectiveness depends on behavioural insight and disciplined communication.

His career accelerated at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, where he rose to Senior Manager, leading major transformation programmes for national retailers and government bodies. In 2000, Dominic co-founded Notion, building it into a respected global management performance consultancy working with FTSE and Fortune 500 organisations. Under his leadership, Notion’s methodologies were subjected to independent academic scrutiny, including evaluation following UK Government-funded research across more than 60 organisations. The results demonstrated significant improvements in communication, engagement, productivity and retention. In 2021, Notion was named Personnel Today L&D Supplier of the Year, recognising the commercial impact of the STAR® Manager programme. In 2025, Dominic hosted a leadership roundtable at the World of Learning Summit in London and was featured in Forbes as a leadership expert, reinforcing his international authority.
