Bill Burke is the Founder and CEO of The Optimism Institute, a media executive and recognised thought leader on optimism in leadership. Bill began his career in the media industry, steadily rising through the ranks of some of the most influential broadcasting organisations in the United States. He served as General Manager of Turner Classic Movies before becoming President of TBS Superstation at Turner Broadcasting. Following this success, he was appointed President and CEO of Resort Sports Network and later President and CEO of The Weather Channel Companies. Alongside his executive career, Bill further developed his leadership expertise as a Harvard Advanced Leadership Fellow, combining strategic business knowledge with a passion for positive organisational change.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Bill has made a significant impact through publishing and filmmaking. In 2008, he co-authored the New York Times bestselling autobiography, ‘Call Me Ted’, chronicling the life of media pioneer Ted Turner. He later co-founded Argos Pictures and co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed the award-winning documentary ‘Live Another Day’, a powerful film addressing mental health and suicide prevention.
